The iPad has landed

This week I had the opportunity to attend the Marketing Live Show show at London’s Olympia.

It’s a massive, industry-wide event with dedicated areas for four strands of marketing: online, data, insight and in-store.

But across the show, the buzz was about just one thing: the iPad. continue reading this article

Will triumphant England pave the way for glory in 2018?

At times, being an England fan can be one of the most excruciating experiences in life; yet at times it can also be the most euphoric.

There is no denying that the mood of the nation yesterday afternoon was utterly dictated by the result of the encounter against Slovenia. A win and we would progress through to the knock-out stages of the tournament. Anything less would see our sorry players arrive back to these shores prematurely in what would surely go down as one of England’s most embarrassing FIFA World Cup campaigns ever.

EDF Energy for thought on Green Britain Day

As anyone travelling into London yesterday should have been aware, 17 June was Green Britain Day. Even just a glance at the front page of the capital’s free commuter newspaper would have you noticing the unique, one-off lashings of green that dominated the covers. continue reading this article

Are the London 2012 mascots a cast-iron hit?

So, welcome to the world, Woo-be-do and Moo-be-do. You might well have been introduced to the world as Wenlock and Mandeville. But, for now, my six-year-old has rechristened you.

Strange names. Over-excited children. And adults talking seriously about made-up characters with a mythical back story. It can be only one of two things: the latest kids’ TV series or Olympic mascot time. continue reading this article

We are recruiting

Seven46 is looking for new blood.

Specifically, two important in-house roles - an Account Manager and a Senior Designer - as well as increasing our network of freelance writers, especially speechwriters.

2010 has already been busy, and is going to get more so, with our ongoing work on Rio 2016 and other Olympic work as well as with the England 2018 campaign. continue reading this article

Rugby the Wembley way

This Saturday will see Wembley open its doors to up to 80,000 rugby fans. The new stadium had better get used to it.

A Question of Sport Relief

Seven46 takes its sport seriously.

We were all over the Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver where we wrote a presentation script for the Rio 2016 delegation.

We love our football and are hoping that our work for the England 2018 World Cup bid campaign helps secure a historic win for the country come December.

And this Friday we’ll be joining in with the millions around the UK who’ll be raising money for Sport Relief – the brilliant sports-led charity event that aims  to help vulnerable people in both the UK and the world’s poorest countries. continue reading this article

Three things we learned at Publishing Expo

The agenda at last week’s Olympia event was dominated by the debate over paid-for content and the emergence of potentially disruptive new publishing platforms such as the iPad.

In the midst of all this uncertainty, three things were clear: continue reading this article

Why brands need to get on (snow)board

I have seen the future and it is snowboarding.

Last week, I had my first experience of carving and shredding on the slopes of Bulgaria. This week, I’ve watched the world’s best riders create the first must-see TV of the Vancouver 2010 Games. continue reading this article

Vancouver welcomes the world

It’s not often someone gets a standing ovation before the event they’re running.

But that’s exactly what happened here in Vancouver as John Furlong, CEO of the 2010 Organizing Committee, got up to speak at the Opening Ceremony of 122nd IOC Session.

As one of the architects of Vancouver’s bid win, back in 2003, he’s spent a decade dreaming of this week - the week the world arrives and the years of planning become days and nights of spectacular sport, and much more. continue reading this article
