Are you watching, London 2012?

While excitement is building for 2012 and the Olympic Games in London, the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in Singapore are already here.

The inaugural YOG, which began on 14 August and run through to the 26th, will see 3,531 athletes between the ages of 14 and 18 compete – from 204 National Olympic Committees in 26 different sports.

Apart from the obvious fact that we are all sports fans here at Seven46, there has been particular interest in the event, given our involvement with the bid three years ago. So it is especially exciting seeing it all come together…in all its digital glory!

The iPad has landed

This week I had the opportunity to attend the Marketing Live Show show at London’s Olympia.

It’s a massive, industry-wide event with dedicated areas for four strands of marketing: online, data, insight and in-store.

But across the show, the buzz was about just one thing: the iPad. continue reading this article

Are the London 2012 mascots a cast-iron hit?

So, welcome to the world, Woo-be-do and Moo-be-do. You might well have been introduced to the world as Wenlock and Mandeville. But, for now, my six-year-old has rechristened you.

Strange names. Over-excited children. And adults talking seriously about made-up characters with a mythical back story. It can be only one of two things: the latest kids’ TV series or Olympic mascot time. continue reading this article

Sevens heaven with our second Olympic win

Rugby is an Olympic sport. It’s official! And Rio 2016 will host the first ever Rugby Sevens Olympic tournament. It doesn’t get much better than that!

Today’s vote by the IOC to include Rugby Sevens in the Olympic Programme is the culmination of nearly five years of hard campaigning by the International Rugby Board (IRB) – campaigning which we at Seven46 are exceptionally proud to have played a part in. continue reading this article

A Rio success story for Seven46

It’s not often your name gets used as a catchphrase by the leadership of a winning Olympic bid in front of the world’s media.

In fact, I can safely say that it’s never happened to me before (we’re more used to being low profile, backroom types!) - and probably never will again.

But, on Saturday, as Rio celebrated its hosting of the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games, ‘Nick Varley’ was one of the phrases of the day. continue reading this article

The BBC Sports Review of the Year is just around the corner and, after the many fantastic achievements by GB athletes in 2008, the race to win the coveted Sports Personality award looks set to be one of the closest in history.

We’ve been looking ahead to Sunday night by picking out our personal athletes of the year. Here’s the verdict from some of our team: continue reading this article
