Rugby the Wembley way

This Saturday will see Wembley open its doors to up to 80,000 rugby fans. The new stadium had better get used to it.

Rugby has made great strides over the last fifteen years and Saturday’s Guinness Premiership match at Wembley between Saracens and Harlequins is an example of the game’s continuing evolution and adaptability. continue reading this article

A Question of Sport Relief

Seven46 takes its sport seriously.

We were all over the Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver where we wrote a presentation script for the Rio 2016 delegation.

We love our football and are hoping that our work for the England 2018 World Cup bid campaign helps secure a historic win for the country come December.

And this Friday we’ll be joining in with the millions around the UK who’ll be raising money for Sport Relief – the brilliant sports-led charity event that aims  to help vulnerable people in both the UK and the world’s poorest countries. continue reading this article

O2 be at the ATP Tennis World Tour Finals

Yesterday’s visit to the O2 arena to watch Andy Murray’s 2-1 set victory over Spain’s Fernando Verdasco in the ATP World Tour finals was, by far, my live sporting highlight for 2009.

As part of a Seven46 away day, I went along to watch Britain’s number one ranked tennis star (and the world’s number four) play his third match of the end-of-season round robin competition.

Raiders of the Olympic Park

Every day on my way to work I’m lucky enough to pass the Olympic Park construction site. My train nudges past the future VeloPark before swinging round the Olympic Village and into Stratford. If I squint, I can see the bowl of the Olympic Stadium reaching into the sky.

Each morning brings a new visual development and it’s genuinely exciting to be able to keep daily tabs on London’s changing skyline from the safety and warmth of a train compartment.

But what these fleeting windows of opportunity don’t offer is information on what’s going on underneath the Olympic Park site. And that was the reasoning behind attending the recent London 2012 Archaeology Programme evening at Stratford Circus. continue reading this article

Out with the gold, in with a new year of sport

It’s fair to say that we were all spoiled for sporting choice in 2008.

We had football’s European Championships, the Ryder Cup, a Brit winning Formula 1 and, of course, the Olympic and Paralympic Games. It was the armchair fan’s perfect year.

And the tremendous performances on show by GB sportsmen and women look set to continue this year. continue reading this article

Newham’s roof with a view

It’s hard not to notice the massive changes taking place in Newham at the moment.

There’s the new Olympic Park site next to the huge Stratford City complex, right on our doorstep. Down the road, in Canning Town and Silvertown Quays, projects are under way that will provide 14,000 new homes. Oh, and there’s the Thames Gateway project – Europe’s biggest regeneration scheme. continue reading this article
